Bless Your Money
By Tana M. Mann Easton, Lead Efficiency Engineer
I’m eternally attracted to ideas and practices that bring more light and love into this world. In the book Bring Out the Magic in Your Mind, author Al Koran urges us to bless our money. He encourages people to take a little time whenever we send money out to infuse the money with our blessing and goodwill. May it feed people who are hungry. May it house people who need shelter. If you’re writing a check for your child’s education, send gratitude to all of the teachers and administrators who make their education possible. If you’re sending in your taxes, will for it to go to causes that help people and never harm. When you pay for food, imagine all of the farmers, delivery people, chefs, and others who made your meal possible and ask for them to be blessed. Will my blessings actually make a difference in the world outside of myself? I don’t know. But I know that when I think this way with a heart full of goodwill and gratitude that I behave in a way that is more open and inviting to all people, and in that way the woman in the mirror is being the change she hopes to see in the world.
