Slower Allows Curiosity Allows Path To Purpose

By Jason Henkel, Chief Balance Engineer

I've been down many rabbit holes in the hunt for purposeful work and output in the world.  I've had the same age old questions and thoughts that many people have. Why am I here?  I want to make a meaningful impact.  I want to do the work I was meant to do.  I want my output/work to light me up!  I want to be passionate about my work.  Hundreds of versions of this idea have flown into my thoughts through the years.  The best answer I've heard from (pick your guru - they all echo similar messages to these questions) is something along the lines of:  "Follow your curiosity, become a craftsman/woman in the areas in which it leads you, and you'll feel purpose there."  Whether that's practical advice or not is a whole other topic for discussion, but there is truth in this advice.

If we zoom in on this a bit, I'd like to point out that you can't even hear your curiosity unless you find a way to slow your pace.  In space during waking hours (not hamster wheel working) is where our curiosity begins to hint.  For those of you who've found ways to quiet your mind (meditation, walks in nature, breath work, cold exposure, hot exposure, etc.), you already know that curiosity goes beyond hinting and begins to call out in stillness.

Here at Focus to Evolve, we are not training people and companies so that they can have a world class productivity system.  Our intention is to highlight a path to attain what really matters, which is finding a calmer, more deliberate way of being individuals in a tsunami of "to do's."  Some describe our trainings as literally giving life back to them.  In the new-found weeks each year, slowness can be rediscovered; or maybe even stillness from time to time, where curiosity finds you with a booming voice.
