Unsubscribe Today
By Tana M. Mann Easton, Lead Efficiency Engineer
Do you receive emailed newsletters, offers, and other marketing materials from sources that you never read? I know I do. When emails from new sources show up, sometimes they’ll catch my eye. But pretty quickly I can figure out if I’ll ever read or utilize the information. I often personally forget that instead of deleting these emails over and over again, day after day, I can simply unsubscribe to them instead.
Unsubscribe is the delete forever button, and it’s always a link found at the very bottom of a mass email. Usually you just click on the link, and it will take you to a website that will ask you to confirm your intention to unsubscribe. It’s almost always pretty quick and painless. And in a few days, you won’t receive mass emails from that source again, reducing the amount of time you’ll spend deleting their emails in the future.
I like to take some time every quarter to monitor my email inboxes and unsubscribe to anything that I never read or find useful. It decreases the number of inbox items I need to deal with daily and opens up bandwidth in my brain to make decisions on the remaining emails that I really care about.
