Ignore Email Conversations in Outlook

By Tana M. Mann Easton, Lead Efficiency Engineer

Have you ever been included on an email conversation chain that you didn’t want or need to see?  This is one of my favorite examples that happened when I worked at a big company somewhat regularly.  Someone in the firm would accidentally (and probably embarrassingly) send an email to an email group that included pretty much everyone at the firm.  Then one person would reply all asking to be removed from the email.  And then another person would reply all and ask to be removed.  And then another person would ask the same thing.  And then another.  And then another.  And so on.

For nonsense email conversations like this, you can skip the insanity by Ignoring the email thread.  It’s very easy to do.  Right click on the email you want to ignore and choose “Ignore.”  A dialog box will pop up asking you to confirm that you want to ignore the conversation and you can choose to not show this message again.  New emails on that conversation will then move directly to your Deleted Items without annoying you any longer.  You’re welcome. 😊
